for
Nonviolent Communication
POC4NVC is an organization for people of colour who practice, innovate, and share Nonviolence and Nonviolent Communication (NVC) as a powerful way to respond to and transform racism, privilege and oppression at the individual and systemic levels. We offer gathering spaces, community, and support for NVC practitioners and trainers of colour. We amplify our work, thinking, and range of perspectives as service-leadership to the wider NVC community and all those committed to ending oppression and caring for the impacts of oppression in real and practical ways.
“Radical empathy, on the other hand, means putting in the work to educate oneself and to listen with a humble heart to understand another's experience from their perspective, not as we imagine we would feel. Radical empathy is not about you and what you think you would do in a situation you have never been in and perhaps never will. It is the kindred connection from a place of deep knowing that opens your spirit to the pain of another as they perceive it.”
